The Buffalo Bandits today announced the team has signed defenseman Matt Spanger to a two-year contract.
Spanger (6’4”, 207 lbs., 11/27/1992) has spent the last three seasons in Buffalo, playing in a career-high 17 games during the 2021-22 season. Last season, Spanger set career-highs in goals (5), points (12), and loose ball recoveries (67). He also tied his career-high in assists (7). Spanger netted his first career game-winning goal on March 27 in the team’s 16-11 win at Halifax.
A native of Toronto, Ontario, Spanger has totaled 33 points (9+24) and 219 loose ball recoveries in 58 games during his five-year NLL career for the Bandits and New England Black Wolves. He has also added five points (2+3) and 40 loose ball recoveries in 11 career playoff contests. Spanger was acquired from New England by the Bandits on Sept. 28, 2018.
