The Buffalo Bandits today announced the team has signed goaltender Matt Vinc to a two-year contract, pending league approval.
Vinc (6’1”, 212 lbs., 6/9/1982) finished the 2022-23 season leading the league in wins (14) and saves (742). He was one of three goalies to surpass the 1,000 minutes played mark (1,047) during the season and became the first goaltender in NLL history to play 14,000 career minutes on Jan. 20 at Rochester. With his 48th career win on April 22 against Toronto, Vinc became the winningest goaltender in Bandits franchise history. After finishing the regular season with a 14-4 record and a 10.42 goals-against average, Vinc posted a 5-1 record with an 8.82 goals-against average during the Bandits 2023 championship run.
The St. Catharines, Ontario native’s career has spanned 17 seasons, having spent time with the San Jose Stealth, New York/Orlando Titans and the Rochester Knighthawks before signing with the Bandits as a free agent prior to the 2018-19 season. Vinc has won the Goaltender of the Year award an NLL-record eight times in his career. Vinc currently leads all NLL goalies in career wins (147), saves (9,788) and minutes played (14,739). He also holds NLL goaltending playoff records in wins (30), saves (1,626) and minutes played (2,512).
