The Buffalo Bandits today announced the team has signed transition player Ian MacKay to a one-year deal, pending league approval.
MacKay (5’10”, 216 lbs., 5/31/1994) notched 11 points (7+4) and led all Bandits with 93 loose-ball recoveries in 11 games during the 2019-20 season. He earned NLL All-Rookie honors and was a finalist for the NLL Rookie of the Year Award in 2018-19 after finishing the season ranked ninth in franchise history in rookie scoring with 32 points (11+21).
MacKay, who was selected by the Bandits in the first round (4th overall) of the 2018 NLL Entry Draft, had a prolific collegiate lacrosse career at the University of Vermont prior to turning pro. He left Vermont’s program as the all-time leading goal scorer (150) and ranked fourth in career points (230) and fifth in career assists (80). The Port Elgin, Ontario native has also played lacrosse on an international level, winning a silver medal with Team Canada at the 2018 FIL Men’s Lacrosse World Championship in Netanya, Israel.
