The Buffalo Bandits today announced the team has signed goaltender Doug Buchan to a two-year contract, pending league approval.
Buchan (6’3”, 284 lbs., 9/20/1994) was acquired via trade from the Philadelphia Wings in July 2019. In nine games for the Bandits in 2019-20, Buchan posted a 4.94 goals-against average and a .880 save percentage. He made his NLL debut for Philadelphia in 2018-19 and appeared in 17 games, posting a .749 save percentage and a 13.17 goals-against average. Drafted by the Saskatchewan Rush in the second round (18th overall) of the 2015 NLL Entry Draft, Buchan also added five assists in just over 810 minutes of game action in 2018-19.
The St. Catharines, Ontario native led all Major Series Lacrosse goaltenders in save percentage (.844) and goals-against average (6.27) in nine games in his only season for the Peterborough Lakers in 2018. His 8-1 record ranked second in the league and Buchan won in his only playoff appearance that year.
