The National Lacrosse League today announced that Buffalo Bandits forward John Tavares and defenseman Chris Corbeil each earned Player of the Week honors for Week 10 of the 2011 NLL Season.
Tavares was named NLL Offensive Player of the Week after his six-point performance in Saturday’s 12-10 win vs. Boston. Tavares scored four times in the victory, including the game-winning goal. Tavares has a team-high 48 points (21+27) on the season.
Corbeil earned NLL Defensive Player of the Week honors for a strong defensive performance vs. Boston. Corbeil recovered five loose balls and forced one turnover in the win, and also scored his fourth goal of the season. Corbeil has a team-high 80 loose balls this season, which ranks him second among all NLL defensemen.
With the win, the Bandits improved their record to 7-3 and solidified their second-place spot in the Eastern Division.
The Week 10 NLL schedule consisted of games played on the weekend of March 12th-13th. The NLL Weekly Player Awards are determined each week by a vote of the general managers and head coaches of the league’s ten clubs.
The Bandits are back in action next weekend, when they travel to Minnesota on Sunday, Mar. 27 for a 2 p.m. match-up with the Minnesota Swarm. The game is one of nine NLL games this season to be aired nationally on VERSUS.
