The Buffalo Bandits today announced the organization will enter three youth lacrosse teams into the Sixth Annual Jr. NLL Tournament at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre in Oakville, Ontario, which runs from Aug. 24 to 26.
Each team will hold tryout sessions on June 11 and 18. The teams will be coached by Bandits players Kevin Brownell, Josh Byrne, Shawn Evans, Zach Herreweyers and Dhane Smith.
All three teams will participate in the NLL-sponsored tournament, which will be played using NLL rules. Age groups for the three teams are below:
• Pee Wee (born in 2006 or 2007)
• Bantam (born in 2004 or 2005)
• Midget (born in 2002 or 2003)
Players who make the three teams will be given entry to the Upstate Box Lacrosse Invitational and the Jr. NLL Tournament along with the opportunity to be a ball boy for a 2018-19 Bandits home game. Each Jr. Bandits player will also be equipped with a personalized Jr. Bandits uniform, pair of Bandits gloves, a personalized shooter shirt, a duffel bag, eight vouchers good for 2018-19 Bandits home games, two adult shirts for their parents and discounts to the 2018 Bandits summer lacrosse camp. All Jr. Bandits players will be honored at a 2018-19 home game.
The tryout fee is $39 per player, but will be waived for any player who participated in the Jr. Bandits Lacrosse League or was on the Jr. Bandits last summer. Each player that tries out for a team will receive a Bandits practice pinnie, a 2017-18 Bandits yearbook and team photo and an autographed photo of a Bandits player. Each player that makes a team will be required to pay a team fee of $525 to cover the cost of the Jr. NLL Tournament and the Upstate Box Lacrosse Invitational in Rochester, New York on Aug. 18 and 19.
The tryout sessions for each age group will be held at Buffalo RiverWorks, located at 359 Ganson St., Buffalo, N.Y. 14203. Tryout schedules are as follows:
• Pee Wee – June 11 and 18 from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
• Bantam – June 11 and 18 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
• Midget – June 11 and 18 from 8:30 to 10 p.m.
